We were in Portland for NYE weekend and I wanted to stop somewhere for the restroom and a tea. I just happened to pick this place due to proximity and was so pleasantly surprised to learn about it's Christ-centered mission! There's a beautiful message in the restroom stall encouraging you to love others and a great selection of Christian books in the lobby. The tea and cupcake I got were both delicious. It was a beautiful cafe that we will certainly stop by again next time we're in Portland!
Maple bacon in a crepe + iced Americano + pumpkin muffin = perfection.
Super clean food and atmosphere. Hands down the best coffee around.
Responsibly sourced food - great staff - company with a functioning moral compass.
Passing through Westbrook and this was recommended to us. Coffee was so good, everyone was really welcoming and we were so excited about the generosity of the business to offer a library and free bibles and devotionals. Can’t wait to come back when we are in town!
Thank you guys!
What a nice spot! Found this gem after we a showing in Westbrook. Great peanut butter smoothie and avocado topped bagel. Friendly service.
I’ve never had a cold fried egg sandwich. It was so unappealing. I don’t mean lukewarm. I mean purposefully cold like never heated in the first place.
The fried egg was stone cold, like it was cooked beforehand and then taken out of a fridge for the sandwich. The bagel was cold and not toasted. The two slices of cheese were also cold straight out of the fridge. It’s hard to make a bad egg sandwich but this was it for sure.
The latter and scone were fine.
The counter help was perfectly friendly and nice.
My third visit while I travel through Maine. Love that I can eat in a totally gluten free establishment where the food is truly awesome!! So by and enjoy a cup of coffee, and an egg sandwich on a Canyon Bakehouse bread or wonderful muffin or scone for breakfast. Stop by for lunch and have a panini and cookie or cupcake. You can't go wrong, no matter what you choose!! The staff is very attentive even during the busiest of times. Thank you, Roots Cafe, for a fabulous place to stop on my journey.
Good coffee. Great staff. We went in hoping it was a breakfast place that had good coffee and in the end found it is a coffee place that has some breakfast options.
My daughter, who has Celiac Disease, breathed a sigh of relief just walking into Roots Cafe. She was SO happy to have a place where she can eat ANYTHING on the menu - plus you can't even tell that the food is GF - SO DELICIOUS! 😃 ☕ 🧁- We came in for breakfast 2 mornings in a row while we were in town. The place is so clean, and love all the wood and decor of this place. Wish they had a Roots Cafe in Chicago!
